Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) will be undertaking a massive recruitment drive by the end of this financial year, IT giant Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Milind Lakkad revealed in an interview. He said that freshers should have skills and degrees in key courses, as such people will get job opportunities.

Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) plans to hire 40,000 freshers this year, IT giant Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Milind Lakkad said in an interview. He explained the company’s recruitment, demand and transformation into an AI-first organization. However, TCS said that it has reduced the number of employees by 5,000 in the third quarter of the financial year 2024-25.
He said that although the number of employees decreased in the third quarter of the financial year 2024-25, this did not affect the growth of the company. He said that the recruitment will be done on an annual basis. The balance of the employee replacement will be done before the end of this financial year. Thus, the company’s growth rate will increase significantly in 2025, said Lakkad. In this regard, he said that we are committed to providing job opportunities to freshers this year as well.

Lakkad said that the company is increasingly integrating the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across various departments and that it is a very important skill at all levels like E0, E1, E2, E3. Therefore, those who want to get a job in TCS should not only have coding skills but also have the appropriate educational qualifications. He clarified that artificial intelligence will improve the efficiency of employees and no one will lose their jobs. He added that AI cannot replace human services, especially in client-facing and knowledge-intensive departments.
- Those who have a basic understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their applications at entry level E0 fall into this category.
- Employees at the E1 level should be able to work with LLM APIs. This is the equivalent skill set for Prompt Engineers.
- Must be proficient in using TCS GenAI tools at E2 level.
- E3 defaults to those with expertise and understanding in AI at higher levels and those using its applications across all disciplines.
